Community Garden in the Works

We received this press release and wanted to share ...

Things are growing at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church.  As food costs rise, the Church has decided to start a Community Garden.  There will be 26-30 plots ranging in size from 10 x 20 feet to 10 x 5 feet.  The garden will boast a water supply, fence and improved soil.  It is an exciting project that not just Church members but people in our community can use.  The trees in the area have been cleared and in the next week or so the Church will run the waterline.  The cost of having a plot is $10 that will be returned to you at the end of the season, if you clean up your plot.  This means it is essentially free.  If someone would like to have a plot but the cost is prohibitive, the charge will be waived.  In addition to private plots, the garden is dedicating a plot to grow fresh produce for the area food banks.    Team leaders on the project are Mike and Diane Williams.  If anyone is interested in having a garden they can call Harper Chapel UMC at 573-348-2617.
