Deer Season
The deer are definitely out and about. Please be extra careful driving, they often appear out of nowhere.
Also, a reminder, we do not allow hunting on any of our properties at any time, without our permission. It is the law and we will prosecute trespassers.

Prepare Your Home for Winter
It's that time of
year when you want to prepare your home for the winter months. Just a
reminder that your outside hoses should be
removed and water to the spigots turned off; that the heat should always be on
in your home, at least at a lowest setting; and that the main water valve
should be turned off if you are going to be absent from your home for an extended period through the
winter months. This is a also a good time to stock up on shovels and salt, if you need it.

Boil Advisory Lifted
The boil advisory for all areas serviced by the Tan-Tar-A water tower have had the boil advisory lifted. The water has been tested and is safe for consumption.
Thursday, October 20, 2011
Boil Advisory Lifted Except for a Few Homes
The boil advisory has been lifted for the the areas serviced by the Tan-Tar-A water tower, except for a few homes in Tan-Tar-A Estates:
125, 147, 165, 191, 215, 229, 243, 257, 267 & 287 Staniel Cay Drive remain under a boil advisory until further notice.
For the rest of the areas, the water has been tested and is safe to drink.
For the remaining homes on the boil advisory, you may want to take the following precautions:
1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations or consumption. Use of bottled water may be a feasible, though relatively expensive, alternative to boiling tap water when under a boil water order.
2. Do not use ice from a household automatic ice-maker or use any ice made with unboiled water from this system. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled or buy ice.
3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
4. LET WATER COOL SUFFICIENTLY BEFORE DRINKING.
Water used for hand-washing or bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing or using backyard pools so water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
We will post another notice as soon as the water has been tested and the boil advisory is lifted for the remaining homes. If you have any questions, you may contact Teri at the office at 573-348-1758 Ext. 5 during regular business hours.

Boil Order
A well pump malfunctioned today, which affected the water tower and pressure to the water system in Tan-Tar-A Resort and Estates, Oak Creek and other areas served by the tower. While there has not been a breach or line break, the water system operator has notified us that the areas served by the tower will be under a boil order until further notice due to the low pressure situation.
You may want to take the following precautions:
1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations or consumption. Artist Markets
If there is enough interest, Palisades Village would like to sponsor a set of Artist Markets again this year, leading up to the holidays. This is an opportunity for local artists and fine crafters to sell their original, artist-created works. The location will be in the Palisades Village Shopping Center at 1026 Palisades Boulevard in Osage Beach. The dates will be on Saturdays, starting October 29 and running
through December 3.
All participating artists must be juried into the market in advance… they may bring samples of their artwork to the office in Palisades Village, Suite 9 for review or provide a link to a website. We will only allow original, quality, handmade artwork and crafts. There is no fee for participating, but artists will need to provide their own setups and must sign up in advance by calling Teri at 573-348-1758 x 5 or emailing her. There are a limited number of spaces available. Please contact Teri with any questions you may have.

The high temperatures are enough, you don't want to get toasted by a ticket!
We wanted to inform everyone of the change of speed limit on KK, it is now 25 MPH in the work zones. Be sure to drive the speed limit, it keeps the workers safe and you free of fines. They are definitely watching more intently for speeders, take those speed limits to heart.

Cloudy Water
For those on the Tan-Tar-A water system, you may be experiencing cloudy water. This is generally due to air in the lines, not a contaminant. The Resort is aware and is working on a fix. If you set the water aside for a minute or so, it should clear.

Community Garden in the Works
We received this press release and wanted to share ...
Things are growing at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church. As food costs rise, the Church has decided to start a Community Garden. There will be 26-30 plots ranging in size from 10 x 20 feet to 10 x 5 feet. The garden will boast a water supply, fence and improved soil. It is an exciting project that not just Church members but people in our community can use. The trees in the area have been cleared and in the next week or so the Church will run the waterline. The cost of having a plot is $10 that will be returned to you at the end of the season, if you clean up your plot. This means it is essentially free. If someone would like to have a plot but the cost is prohibitive, the charge will be waived. In addition to private plots, the garden is dedicating a plot to grow fresh produce for the area food banks. Team leaders on the project are Mike and Diane Williams. If anyone is interested in having a garden they can call Harper Chapel UMC at 573-348-2617.

After the Storm ...
The crew has been out today clearing snow from all subdivisions with success ... between plowing, salt and sunshine, we are actually starting to see some pavement. The main streets are driveable, the secondary roads are getting there. KK has also been plowed.
Palisades Village Shopping Center will be cleared tomorrow.
Our offices remained closed today, but we hope to open tomorrow or Friday, depending on when staff can get in.
Hope you are staying warm!

Office Closed Due to Weather
The safety of our staff is paramount and as a result, we have closed our office. We will reopen as soon as the weather permits. Our facilities crew is on duty, clearing snow.
Last report is that the snow is falling very rapidly and even with constant clearing efforts the main roads are snow-covered. The crew will stay focused on the clearing of the main subdivision roads and will likely not get to secondary roads until the storm abates. If the weather develops into white-out conditions, we will pull the crew off the roads for everyone's safety until conditions improve.
If you have an urgent situation for us, you may reach us on our on-call line ... 573.216.1806 or 573.348.1758 ext. 9. We respectfully ask that calls to this line be only for property emergencies, as our crew is extremely busy with handling the weather situation.
For any non-critical situations, please leave us a voice message at the regular office extensions or send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Staff is monitoring their email.

Winter Outage Tips
-- Gather in a central room where there is an alternative heat source, such as a fireplace.
-- Dress in loose layers of clothing.
-- If the indoor temperature drops to 55 degrees F or below, open faucets slightly so they constantly drip to prevent water pipes from freezing.
-- If candles and portable heaters are used, never leave them unattended.
--Never use a gas range for room heating.
-- Never use charcoal as an indoor heating or cooking source.
-- Never use gasoline or other flammable liquids to start or quicken a fire. Always keep a screen around an open flame, and don’t close the damper while ashes are still hot.
-- Remember, a fuel-burning heater, such as a kerosene heater, requires proper ventilation to prevent buildup of harmful fumes.
-- Place heaters on a hard, non-combustible surface.

Blizzard Warning Issued
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the Lake area. Please be prepared and very careful!
*Winter Storm Warning*
A major winter storm is predicted for the Lake area, which will include ice, heavy wind, frigid temperatures and significant snow accumulations. We wanted to take a moment to remind you of our snow removal procedures ...
We will plow and salt the main subdivision roads first and continue our attention on them until they are clear and as safe for travel as we can make them under the conditions, and then move onto the secondary roads when we can.
We generally won't plow the parking areas until the roads are cleared and the storm has abated.
We generally do not begin plowing until there is two inches of snow on the roads ... it can make driving conditions even more dangerous to plow too early and is hard on the plows and the roads.
Please do not park on the roadways when there is a chance of inclement weather ... it makes it extremely difficult for us to be able to maneuver the plows safely and fully clear the roads and there is a risk of damage to your vehicle. Of greatest concern, it creates a dangerous situation for others. For safety issues, your car may be towed, without notice, at your expense. If you are concerned about being able to get out, please contact the office and we will try to help you find a safe place to leave your vehicle.
Even when the roads have been cleared, please use extreme caution when driving, especially keeping your speed down ... as you know, our roads are hilly and winding and even the very best efforts can leave some slippery patches.
You may want to check road conditions outside your neighborhood prior to embarking on any travel ... often clearing of the county and state roads lags behind us and you may find them in unpassable condition.
If you have questions or note an area that needs attention due to the weather, please contact the office. The on-call line is available when the office is closed.
Most of all, we ask your patience, with this level of predicted storm activity, it will be difficult at best to keep the roads clear. The crew will remain on duty throughout the storm and stay on after until everything is safe for passage again, but please understand that they can only do so much and their safety and well being is also of great concern to us.
Be safe!!
